The monster is menacing and massive. Blue flames making molten metal. Its lifeblood flowing through the body, keeping it alive to do its fearsome work. Heat waves out and damps my face. My father sits low before the beast, quietly in command, fingertips brushing letters making words which hot silver will catch and mold into type. Tiny rectangles which will speak. Daddy’s eyes warn my feet to move back. I’ve no courage to stand closer so fear pushes me away as I wonder what stories are burning inside.
