My sister paints her door red. For wealth. Well, for money, really but wealth sounds nicer. She’s careful with the trim, tapes the edges, cleanly. She wants that wealth to flow easily into her life. I get that. We all want that wealth to flow easily.
My sister has an owl for a friend. It likes to perch in the tree outside her house. Well, it’s not really a house. More like a coffee shack but house sounds much nicer. She likes to post videos to her Facebook page, talking to it, singing to it. Sometimes she will play her piano, the music drifting out the screen door, that’s not red but probably should be.
My sister used to massage tourists for a living down at the resorts. For good money. Well, good money most of the time. She has a quite a few stories of marriage proposals, intentional flashing, massive tips from famous celebrities. Sometimes she will tell me about the crazy requests for happy endings.
My sister sits on her lanai, eating bananas, papayas, guavas from her trees, watching the owl. Well, maybe she’s not really watching the owl. Maybe she is just eating her fruit and thinking about her day filled with massages, her red door open, waiting for wealth, maybe waiting for the owl to join her.
