'Out of Season' by Claudia Wair

On a morning next spring, the sun will rise when you think it has set forever. People will go about their lives unaware of this new hollow place. You will have fallen out of time, into a fifth season.

But on this winter day, the world makes sense. The prognosis is good and he’s feeling like himself. He takes your hand, kisses your palm. There’s a lightness to your step as you make your way home. Lucky, you think, to have slipped past the shadow.
