Debut Flash: 'The box in the attic' by Mariella Angela H. Olden

I found a box in the attic today. It was old and full of dust, and sun rays glowed on it for me to notice. It suddenly pulled me—waiting to be opened—and I think it said, "Open me; check the wonders you haven't seen." However, I was afraid and nervous to look inside. But being known as a risk-taker, I removed the dust so I could feed my curiosity and slowly slid scissors across the tape, then pulled the cover apart. At first, I could not recognize what was inside. A few seconds later, I felt a shiver down my spine. I can now see the contents full of, "You are worth it," "The cruel world does not deserve your tenderness and love," and "You need for yourself the love you give to everyone else." My eyes watered, and I felt an ache within my chest. It hit me hard. I took self-love out of the box. I let it shine and glitter in the palm of my hand. I then vowed to never box it up again.
