'Saccharine' by Laura Besley

‘One day I’ll buy you a real one,’ you said, slipping a Haribo ring onto my finger.

I laughed and ripped it off with my teeth, juices dripping down my chin.

Sometimes I buy a bag of those sweets after work, stuff them all into my mouth until I’m sick. Except for the ring. That I wear until it rots.
