'Today, I am tired' by Melody Tobi-Makinde

Today’s sun hangs overhead low enough that I can reach it. It reeks of rot and maggot like flies caressing the tresses of a guava tree. The sun suddenly glows brighter as if it hears my mockery and suddenly its gleam reduces like a street lamp whose battery life will be snuffed out soon like a helpless cigarette butt. 

Today, I am tired and the sun seems to agree.
