Debut Fiction: 'Never Letting You Go' by Liv Strom

Mike was always so trusting. I look deep into his sky-blue eyes and imagine I can see that trust programmed into the tiny electrons flashing in there. One day I’ll upgrade him with the talking module. Abhorrently expensive things.

We take a daily walk, like we did before he changed, passing holograph trees and others surrounded by preserved loved ones.

No one is alone anymore, no one lost. I look away from the dog eyes reflecting my deceased husband’s electronic mind. Mike barks and I jerk the leash. Maybe we are better off without the talking model after all.
