'After the Dead Roses' by Ariel Dawn

We run home to haunt each other in the city. Mother buys me a condo on the skyline. I promise not to see him, yet wander to his hotel above the strip club, ancient room he paces, high shadows and smoking benches in the courtyard with violins. It always ends in the glittering all-night cafe, broken or spilled china and my confession of weeding roses for the seeds in the pear.
