She grabbed her phone. Banged the screen.
Wrong Passcode.
“Fuck!” There’s a way to call 999 without it. She couldn’t remember.
“Give them the bag,” her hands shaking fists out the passenger side window. She didn’t even want the ring. Meaningless fucking thing.
She raised the window and locked the doors.
Sean fought them both. He was strong. Violent. One of the reasons she said Yes. They’d be safe.
No-one came running out of the jewellers to help. Why? Her eyes darted the street. Where is everyone?
“Let them...” she shouted, her hand slapped her mouth to kill the rest, head spinning back to check Lily, still asleep in the car seat, the spit of her father, the man she’d left behind.
Sean forced them both back, made a gap and leapt for the passenger door. She reached to open. Their eyes locked. She saw fear. The men jumped at him.
She turned the key in the ignition and drove.
In the rear view mirror she watched them beat Sean to the ground. She kept driving.

DeleteGood one
ReplyDeleteWhat a horrible decision to have to make. Even if she didn't love him. I'll be thinking about this story all week.
